Take a tricycle from Eastwood Montalban to Wawa Dam (Php 20.00 one way)

Arrive at Sitio Nino, Barangay Wawa

Mt. Pamitinan, located in Brgy. Wawa, Rodriguez, Rizal. It is one of the favorite mountains to hike for beginners. The mountain is just 426 meters above sea level and it requires at least 2 hours to reach the summit. Other hikers can do a twin hike, either they choose Mt. Pamitinan + Mt. Binacayan or Mt. Pamitinan + Mt. Hapunang Banoi. Or take the Pentalogy like the pros below. :)

HIKING EXPERIENCE:

We arrived in Barangay Wawa at around 5:30 in the morning. Upon arriving, we registered at the DENR office and hired a guide. The jump-off point is at Sitio Niño, where we crossed a hanging bridge over Wawa River.

The first part of the climb offers steep, inclined and forested trail. The trail is easy but it requires a great stamina to ascend.

For me, I asked a lot of "take five"s to rest and of course take pictures.

After the initial part of the trail, we arrived at the junction/rest camp. This is where hikers can choose a route going to Mt. Pamitinan or Mt. Hapunang Banoi. There are also locals here that sells foods and refreshment.

After resting, we proceed to ascend. The second part of the trail is harder than the first one. From a steeped trail it became a rocky, point rock/limestone trail. We became more careful and cautious in this part as the climb became dangerous. Good thing we bring gloves that can protect our hands. It's a legit rock climbing experience.

SUMMIT

Mt. Pamintinan has two summits.

This part of the summit offers a magnificent view of Mt. Bincayan and Wawa River.

You can also take a "buwis-buhay" shots in here.

The assault going to the second summit is the most difficult as you would need to rappel your way up between two limestone boulders.

This is the eastern part of the summit where we saw the mountains of Sierra Madre.
