Mambukal Mountain Resort is a must place to visit when you are in the province of Bacolod. It's an hour drive away from the city that offers a place for relaxation and distressing. This nature friendly place is located in the boundaries of the municipality of Murcia, Negros Occidental.
When I was informed that me and my friends will go to Mambukal Resort as a side-trip before we head to Ilo-ilo, I didn't do any research. So I don't have any expectations and I honestly don't know what awaits me when we got there.
How to go to Mambukal Resort?
There are a terminal of jeepneys available in Libertad Market, Bacolod. Just ask which one will bring you to Mambukal. The resort is located in Brgy. Minoyan, Murcia, Negros Occidental.
We arrived in the resort early in the morning. After getting off the van, we immediately start exploring the area.
LAGOON - This is where we took a lot of group pictures. The lagoon is so wide and I think you can do kayaking here.
Of course after group pictures, we had our fair share of solo pics. That's me having the same lagoon on my background.
On our way to the butterfly garden, we saw this beautiful spot where we took another groupie.
BUTTERFLY GARDEN - Before going inside the garden, I was amazed to see different butterflies in frames at the reception area.
It's very informative. I learned that female butterflies are bigger than male butterflies.
I got super excited upon entering the garden. I saw different flowers with different butterflies. I even got one hopped on my hand.
Plus, I got the chance to be a butterfly myself. haha
It's very overwhelming having that interactions with butterflies. We stayed for like 20 to 30 minutes only. Having that limited time, we decided to go to the next place.
SEVEN WATERFALLS - There's a trekking needed in order to reach the waterfalls. It's a must to have a tour guide for first timers like us. The plan was to trek up to the 2nd falls only due to time limitation. But when we reached the 2nd falls, we decided to speed up and reached up until the 5th falls.
The first waterfalls is not allowed for swimmers. But we don't have plans in swimming anyway.
This is us, checking if we still have time to go to the 6th and 7th falls. But we decided to start descending after seeing that we don't have enough time.
SULFUR HOT SPRING - Mambukal Resort lies 1,200 feet above sea level beside the active Mt. Kanlaon. That's why there a lot of hot springs.
It's my first time seeing something like this. The pool is emitting gasses. We can actually see parts where it is really boiling and the area smells sulfur.
We are always reminded to be extra careful because a serious third degree burn can happen if we accidentally touched the water.
This is the only part that is warm enough for hand dipping. But still, it's hot for me. It's like I can't dip my hand for a long time. :)
BAT VIEWING - There's a lot of fruit bats in the area too.
They can be seen even while walking in the area. We saw group of them flying just above us.
WARM SULFUR DIPPING POOL - This is where we spent an hour or two. The pool is very relaxing and it feels like it took toxins from our body.
