Adventure Time in Masungi Georeserve

We finally did the Masungi Georeserve hike! We were so excited for this adventure. We booked for the 6:30 AM slot. The reservation requires us to have a group with minimum of 7 members to be able to book online. We did the Discovery Trail that requires a 3-4 hours to finish depending on our pace.

The Masungi Georeserve is a conservation area and a rustic rock garden tucked in the rainforest of Rizal. Masungi’s name is derived from the word “masungki” which translates to “spiked” - an apt description for the sprawling limestone landscape found within. It is located in Baras, Rizal. This is me and my sister having a cup of coffee while waiting for Ate Kat and Kuya Van. We will use their car because it's easy to go there via a private vehicle than commuting. It's an hour or less drive away from Manila.

SILUNGAN : This is where we stayed first for the orientation and where they gave us our gears.

We arrived pretty early so I got the chance to roam around the area and I was amazed how it was well maintained.

After the orientation, they gave us helmets and small bags where we can put our personal belongings.

And now we are ready to start. It's a good thing we got the earliest slots (walk-ins are not allowed) to avoid the crowd. Well, it was an advise from a friend who visited the place already. She said that if the group ahead of us is slow or fond of taking pictures we will end up waiting before climbing up/ down/ across the various rope ladders and bridges.

SAPOT : This is a web style platform that offers a view of Laguna de Bay.

The weather that day was foggy. It actually rained a bit but we still managed to continue.

We passed by this bridge before heading to the next stop.

YUNGIB NI RUBEN : This is a cave formation. We we stayed for a while while waiting for the rain to stop.

TATAY : This is the fist and the taller peak.

NANAY : The second peak.

PATAK : This is a drop shaped house between the hanging bridge and a series of ropes going to Duyan.

DUYAN: This is a big hammock. This is where I enjoyed so much.

But I had to go through this challenge of going down to that big hammock at my back.

They also have series of ropes obstacles like Sawa and Bayawak which I haven't got the chance to take a picture because of the rain. The trails are all enjoyable and it's really a great challenge to those who have fear of heights. After finishing, we got our complementary snack at their "cafeteria".

Oh, we saw this "pugon", it's an old version of an oven.
